SERVICES

Personalized brain health support  through movement, mindfulness, and connection.

01

Breathing Exercises

When we slow down and follow the breath, calm naturally unfolds. Feeling the air pass gently through the nose, the chest rise and fall—each breath becomes a quiet anchor. This simple practice nourishes both yoga and overall well-being.

02

Physical Postures

Chair yoga builds strength, balance, and confidence through gentle, nature-inspired movements—seated or standing with support.

03

Relaxation & Mindfulness

While yoga naturally encourages relaxation, our classes include dedicated time to settle the body and mind. This may involve gentle meditation, breath awareness, or simple visualizations that create a sense of peace and presence.

04

Community & Connection

For older adults, including those with Alzheimer’s or dementia, chair yoga offers more than movement—it’s a chance to be present, connect with others, and feel part of a supportive community.

05

The Brain-Body Connection

Our brains are incredibly adaptable, forming new pathways at any age. Even with cognitive decline, the right activities can help spark connection, support memory, and keep the mind engaged. Gentle, guided movement like chair yoga gives the brain—and body—safe, encouraging ways to stay active.

Why Chair Yoga Helps

Chair yoga builds strength, balance, flexibility, and confidence through gentle, adaptive movements—done seated or standing with support. Many poses are inspired by nature, such as the steadiness of a tree or the graceful reach of a bird’s wings, making the practice both grounding and engaging.

"It’s more than exercise—it’s a safe, happy place where we feel connected and supported. My husband, who has dementia, enjoys the social part just as much as the movement, and I love seeing him so at ease."

FAQ

Your Questions, Answered

  • Do I or my loved one need any prior yoga experience?
Not at all. Our chair yoga classes are designed for beginners and those with limited mobility. Every movement can be adapted to meet each person’s needs and comfort level.
  • Is chair yoga safe for people with Alzheimer’s or dementia?
Yes. Classes are taught by a certified instructor experienced in dementia care and adaptive yoga. We keep movements gentle, use clear cues, and create a calm, supportive environment.
  • What if my loved one can’t follow all the instructions?
That’s okay. Participation is about enjoying the experience, not doing every pose perfectly. Even small movements, breathing exercises, or simply being in a calm group setting can be beneficial.
  • How long are the classes?
Classes typically last 30–45 minutes, including time for gentle movement, and relaxation. We can also adjust class length for private sessions or special needs.
  • Can caregivers or family members join in?
Absolutely! Caregivers are welcome to participate alongside their loved one. It’s a great way to share the experience and practice gentle movement together.
  • How is chair yoga different from regular yoga?
Chair yoga uses the support of a chair for seated poses or for balance in standing poses. It allows people with mobility challenges to enjoy the benefits of yoga—improved strength, flexibility, balance, and relaxation—without needing to get down on the floor.
